The genome sequence of Common Centaury, Centaurium erythraea Rafn (Gentianales: Gentianaceae) [version 1; peer review: 1 approved]

We present a genome assembly of Centaurium erythraea (Common Centaury; Streptophyta; Magnoliopsida; Gentianales; Gentianaceae). The assembly consists of two haplotypes with total lengths of 887.25 megabases and 839.74 megabases. Most of the haplotype 1 assembly (98.31%) was scaffolded into 20 chromosomal pseudomolecules. Haplotype 2 was assembled to scaffold level. The mitochondrial sequences have lengths of 207.52 and 134.57 kilobases and the plastid genome assembly has a length of 153.26 kilobases. Gene annotation of the haplotype 1 assembly by Ensembl identified 42,078 protein-coding genes. This assembly was generated as part of the Darwin Tree of Life project, which produces reference genomes for eukaryotic species found in Britain and Ireland.
