The genome sequence of Geranium molle L., 1753 (Geraniales: Geraniaceae) [version 1; peer review: awaiting peer review]

We present a genome assembly of Geranium molle (Dove’s-foot Crane’s-bill; Streptophyta; Magnoliopsida; Geraniales; Geraniaceae). The assembly consists of two haplotypes with total lengths of 399.25 megabases and 395.29 megabases. Most of haplotype 1 (95.92%) is scaffolded into 13 chromosomal pseudomolecules. Haplotype 2 was assembled to scaffold level. The five mitochondrial sequences have lengths of 69.75, 93.45, 75.84, 72.75 and 66.88 kilobases and the plastid genome assembly has a length of 217.76 kilobases. Gene annotation of this assembly by Ensembl identified 29,359 protein-coding genes. This assembly was generated as part of the Darwin Tree of Life project, which produces reference genomes for eukaryotic species found in Britain and Ireland.
