The genome sequence of Holy-grass, Hierochloe odorata (L. P.Beauv., 1812) (Poales: Poaceae) [version 1; peer review: awaiting peer review]

We present a genome assembly of Hierochloe odorata (Holy-grass; Streptophyta; Magnoliopsida; Poales; Poaceae). The assembly consists of two haplotypes with total lengths of 3,601.76 megabases and 3,598.22 megabases. Most of haplotype 1 (97.51%) is scaffolded into 14 chromosomal pseudomolecules. Haplotype 2 was assembled to scaffold level. The mitochondrial sequence has a length of 537.0 kilobases and the plastid genome assembly has a length of 136.63 kilobases. Gene annotation of this assembly by Ensembl identified 46,242 protein-coding genes. This assembly was generated as part of the Darwin Tree of Life project, which produces reference genomes for eukaryotic species found in Britain and Ireland.
