The genome sequence of the Small Cow-wheat, Melampyrum sylvaticum L. (Lamiales: Orobanchaceae) [version 1; peer review: 1 approved]

We present a genome assembly of Melampyrum sylvaticum (Small Cow-wheat; Streptophyta; Magnoliopsida; Lamiales; Orobanchaceae). The primary assembly has a total length of 4,364.70 megabases. Most of the primary assembly (99.98%) is scaffolded into 9 chromosomal pseudomolecules. The mitochondrial sequences have lengths of 287.57 and 12.01 kilobases and the plastid genome assembly has a length of 143.87 kilobases. Gene annotation of the primary assembly by Ensembl identified 33,682 protein-coding genes. This assembly was generated as part of the Darwin Tree of Life project, which produces reference genomes for eukaryotic species found in Britain and Ireland.
