The genome sequence of Red Currant, Ribes rubrum L., 1753 (Saxifragales: Grossulariaceae) [version 1; peer review: awaiting peer review]

We present a genome assembly of Ribes rubrum (Red Currant; Streptophyta; Magnoliopsida; Saxifragales; Grossulariaceae). The two haplotypes have lengths of 834.25 megabases and 821.88 megabases. Most of the haplotype 1 assembly (95.96%) was assigned to 8 chromosomal pseudomolecules. Haplotype 2 was assembled to scaffold level. The mitochondrial sequence has a length of 531.84 kilobases and the plastid genome assembly has a length of 157.8 kilobases. Gene annotation of this assembly by Ensembl identified 28,910 protein-coding genes. This assembly was generated as part of the Darwin Tree of Life project, which produces reference genomes for eukaryotic species found in Britain and Ireland.
