The genome sequence of Marsh Violet, Viola palustris L. (Malpighiales: Violaceae) [version 1; peer review: 1 approved]

We present a genome assembly of the allo-octoploid Viola palustris (Marsh Violet; Streptophyta; Magnoliopsida; Malpighiales; Violaceae). The assembly consists of two haplotypes with total lengths of 1,771.30 megabases and 1,758.24 megabases. Most of the haplotype 1 assembly (99.1%) was scaffolded into 24 chromosomal pseudomolecules. Haplotype 2 was assembled to scaffold level. The mitochondrial sequences have lengths of 292.9 and 220.74 kilobases and the plastid genome assembly has a length of 157.67 kilobases. This assembly was generated as part of the Darwin Tree of Life project, which produces reference genomes for eukaryotic species found in Britain and Ireland.
