The genome sequence of pale flax, Linum bienne Mill. (Malpighiales: Linaceae) [version 1; peer review: 1 approved]

We present a genome assembly of Linum bienne (pale flax; Streptophyta; Magnoliopsida; Malpighiales; Linaceae). The assembly consists of two haplotypes with total lengths of 486.84 megabases and 454.79 megabases. Most of the haplotype 1 assembly (99.74%) was scaffolded into 15 chromosomal pseudomolecules. Haplotype 2 was assembled to scaffold level. The mitochondrial sequences have lengths of 133.57, 40.55, 36.38, 39.71, 38.07 and 44.7 kilobases and the plastid genome assembly has a length of 156.94 kilobases. Gene annotation of the haplotype 1 assembly by Ensembl identified 37,444 protein-coding genes. This assembly was generated as part of the Darwin Tree of Life project, which produces reference genomes for eukaryotic species found in Britain and Ireland.
