The genome sequence of rough hawkbit, Leontodon hispidus L. (Asterales: Asteraceae) [version 1; peer review: 1 approved]

We present a genome assembly of Leontodon hispidus (rough hawkbit; Streptophyta; Magnoliopsida; Asterales; Asteraceae). The assembly consists of two haplotypes with total lengths of 2,022.70 megabases and 1,982.11 megabases. The haplotype 1 assembly and the haplotype 2 assembly each contain 7 chromosomal pseudomolecules; these account for 97.29% and 97.75% of their respective sequences. The mitochondrial genome assembly has a length of 365.17 kilobases and the plastid genome assembly has a length of 151.95 kilobases. Gene annotation of the haplotype 1 assembly by Ensembl identified 56,215 protein-coding genes. This assembly was generated as part of the Darwin Tree of Life project, which produces reference genomes for eukaryotic species found in Britain and Ireland.
