The genome sequence of silver ragwort, Jacobaea maritima (L.) Pelser & Meijden (Asterales: Asteraceae) [version 1; peer review: 1 approved]

We present a genome assembly of Jacobaea maritima (silver ragwort; Streptophyta; Magnoliopsida; Asterales; Asteraceae). The assembly consists of two haplotypes with total lengths of 2,191.05 megabases and 2,193.90 megabases. J. maritima is tetraploid (2n = 4x = 40). Most of the haplotype 1 assembly (97.33%) was scaffolded into 20 chromosomal pseudomolecules. Haplotype 2 was assembled to scaffold level. The mitochondrial genome assembly has a length of 344.12 kilobases and the plastid genome assembly has a length of 150.75 kilobases. Gene annotation of the haplotype 1 assembly by Ensembl identified 33,893 protein-coding genes. This assembly was generated as part of the Darwin Tree of Life project, which produces reference genomes for eukaryotic species found in Britain and Ireland.
