MOTHER’S DAY, an important occasion that brims with joyful and meaningful moments, anecdotes, and memories, is usually the final day for The Flower Fields, pretty much each and every year. It’s true that the Carlsbad attraction can push a little bit longer if conditions are right, but most years, including 2026, see the last chance to visit coinciding with the marvelous motherly occasion. In that spirit the team behind the destination, which is synonymous with eye-bright Giant Tecolote Ranunculus flowers, has a knack for doing it up on Mother’s Day, just as the attraction is preparing to bid fans farewell for another season. And in 2026, that “doing it up” has a flutterful and fun name: It’s “Butterflies, Blooms & Bouquets” and tickets for the May 10 fun are available for purchase via The Flower Fields site (but may not be for long, if spots fill up).
THE RELEASING OF BUTTERFLIES… is one uplifting event on the special schedule, as is the chance to pose for a family photograph. Ballet folklorico performances will add beauty and flair to the festivity, as will opportunities to craft flower bouquets. Some events will have a separate fee, while others will be complimentary, so be sure to check before you go. You say you already have other plans with your mom? Be cheered: The Flower Fields are open daily through May 10, and the sunflowers are in bloom, along with showings of ranunculus flowers.
