Lavender season is getting an early start at a San Luis Obispo County farm

Дата публикации: 27-04-2026 16:03:00

THE MIDDLE-OF-THE-YEAR “J” MONTHS, at least around a few fragrant Southern and Central California spots, mean one happy thing to herb aficionados and people who are passionate about a certain celebrated blossom: It’s lavender time, big time, that marvelous moment when fields take on a dramatic look and everything feels soft-edged and super-scentful. Of course, lavender lovers know that their beloved bloom can also grace the weeks ahead of June and July, and a bit after, if conditions are right. “Stay on one’s toes” is good advice here, and for those people hoping to call upon a lavender farm in 2026, your moment may arrive sooner than later: Hambly Lavender Farm sent out the call that “… the lavender is waking up earlier than usual,” with little buds already appearing, “… something that typically doesn’t happen until later in the season.”
OPENING DAY… is coming up — it’s Mother’s Day, which is May 10 — and the farm’s colorful calendar runs through Sept. 10. If you’d like to be there for the Mother’s Day lav-lovely launch, expect a few pretty perks, like complimentary Honey Lavender Gelato (the first 40 mothers will enjoy the Leo! Leo! Gelato freebie) and other goodies, like Sugar + Spoon’s Lavender Honey Caramels. Whenever you plan your trip to San Miguel, which is located near Paso Robles, do plan ahead of time: “weekends fill quickly!,” shares the farm. If book your U-Pick Day Pass before April concludes, you’ll receive a gift: It’s a sachet, a drawer-delightful icon that is, in many minds, lavender’s longtime bestie. For everything happening at Hambly Lavender Farm this season, including U-Pick information, proceed to gently stroll, like you might through a field of waving lavender, by this site.
