The genome sequence of flixweed, Descurainia sophia (L.) Webb ex Prantl (Brassicales: Brassicaceae) [version 1; peer review: 1 approved]

We present a genome assembly of Descurainia sophia (Flixweed; Streptophyta; Magnoliopsida; Brassicales; Brassicaceae). The assembly consists of two haplotypes with total lengths of 262.07 megabases and 262.55 megabases. Most of the haplotype 1 assembly (99.49%) was scaffolded into 14 chromosomal pseudomolecules. Haplotype 2 was assembled to scaffold level. The mitochondrial genome assembly has a length of 265.49 kilobases and the plastid genome assembly has a length of 153.91 kilobases. Gene annotation of the haplotype 1 assembly by Ensembl identified 44,124 protein-coding genes. This assembly was generated as part of the Darwin Tree of Life project, which produces reference genomes for eukaryotic species found in Britain and Ireland.
