The genome sequence of the Four-lined Horsefly, Atylotus rusticus (Linnaeus, 1767) (Diptera: Tabanidae) [version 1; peer review: 1 approved]

We present a genome assembly from an individual male Atylotus rusticus (Four-lined Horsefly; Arthropoda; Insecta; Diptera; Tabanidae). The assembly contains two haplotypes with total lengths of 1,275.59 megabases and 1,016.93 megabases. Most of the haplotype 1 assembly (96.09%) was scaffolded into 10 chromosomal pseudomolecules, including the X and Y sex chromosomes. Most of haplotype 2 (95.26%) is scaffolded into 8 chromosomal pseudomolecules. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled, with a length of 15.86 kilobases. This assembly was generated as part of the Darwin Tree of Life project, which produces genomes for eukaryotic species found in Britain and Ireland.
