A family helped prevent a motorcycle theft attempt between a rider and a man believed to be his passenger in Iligan City. 

Recently, Reca May Domine, a Facebook user, shared a video of motorcycle napping attempt in Iligan city. The post immediately spread like wildfire on social media and elicited comments from the online community. 

The suspect initially posed a hitchhiker and convinced the motorcycle rider to give him a ride. However, during the trip, the situation reportedly turned dangerous when the man allegedly attempted to take control of the motorcycle from the rider. 

A struggle then broke out between the two. Reports said the suspect not only tried to steal the motorcycle but also attempted to attack the rider with a rock during the confrontation. The rider fought back as he tried to protect himself and prevent the suspect from taking his vehicle. 

A family passing through the area noticed that something was wrong. Seeing the ongoing struggle, they immediately decided to help. Some family members shouted to attract attention from nearby residents and motorists, while others reportedly chased the suspect on foot. 

The attempted motorcycle theft was unsuccessful. The suspect was unable to take the motorcycle and eventually fled the scene before authorities arrived. 

Cases involving suspects pretending to be passengers or hitchhikers have become a concern for some motorists. As a result, many people are reminding riders to remain cautious when offering rides to strangers, especially at night or in less crowded areas. 

As of this writing, authorities have not released information on whether the suspect has been identified or arrested.
