Female Passenger Thrown Out of Jeepney Ends Up Under Trailer Truck in Manila 

A female passenger was seriously injured after she was hit and dragged underneath a truck while chasing for a jeepney ride. 

On early Thursday morning (July 16, 2026), CCTV cameras in Barangay 739, Zone 80 captured the victim getting off the front portion of a jeepney in a dangerous situation along Osmeña Highway.  

The video showed a passenger jeepney suddenly speeding away even though the traffic light on its lane was still red. As the jeepney rushed through the intersection, it narrowly avoided an oncoming truck that had the right of way because its traffic signal was green.

After, the woman appeared on the road while trying to catch up with the moving jeepney. According to investigators, she was attempting to board the vehicle so she could join her two male companions who were already inside. Unfortunately, the truck driver did not notice her in time, and she was struck before ending up underneath the large vehicle.

After the collision, the woman was left lying on the road while the truck continued driving away from the scene. Concerned individuals immediately sought help, and the victim was rushed to a nearby hospital. She remains under medical observation as doctors monitor the injuries she suffered from the accident.

Police investigators later learned that the jeepney driver allegedly sped away because he became frightened after being teased and harassed by members of the woman’s group while his vehicle was stopped. Out of fear, he reportedly ignored the red light and accelerated through the intersection.

“At ito namang biktima natin, humahabol na makasakay doon sa jeep at makasama doon sa mga kagrupo niya, kaya lang dahil doon sa Osmena highway naka-green light o naka-go yung signal light, dire-diretso yung truck at hindi siya napansin,” said. 

Authorities are still searching for the truck driver who left the scene after the incident. He may face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in physical injuries.

Meanwhile, the jeepney driver has filed a physical injuries complaint against the two male companions of the victim, claiming that they assaulted him. Police have already identified the two men, both 18 years old, and the investigation is continuing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
