Elderly Couple Stabbed by Man Seeking Shelter From Heavy Rain

An elderly couple was left injured after a man they tried to help suddenly attacked them inside their small stall in Bogo City, Cebu. 

On Sunday evening (July 12, 2026), the victims were identified only by their aliases Roberto, 66, and Virginia, 65. The couple was inside their stall in Barangay Nailon when they noticed a man standing outside while heavy rain poured down. 

The senior citizen couple reportedly offered the man a place to stay dry. They invited him to come inside their stall so he could take shelter from the rain. However, the man initially declined their offer and remained outside. 

A few minutes later, the situation took a shocking turn. According to the investigation of the Bogo City Police Station, the man suddenly entered the stall and attacked Virginia with a knife several times. 

Seeing his wife in danger, Roberto immediately stepped in and tried to stop the attack. He attempted to defend Virginia and prevent further harm, but he was also stabbed during the struggle. 

After carrying out the attack, the suspect quickly escaped from the area. Reports said he fled on a motorcycle driven by another person who appeared to be waiting nearby. 

The injured couple was first taken to the Cebu Provincial Hospital in Bogo City for emergency treatment. Due to the seriousness of their injuries, they were later transferred to a hospital in Cebu City where they could receive further medical care and monitoring.  

Police officers are continuing their investigation to determine the motive behind the attack. Authorities are also working to identify the suspect and the person who helped him escape. 

Investigators hope that witnesses and possible leads will help bring those responsible to justice and provide answers to the injured couple and their family.
