CRAFT BREWS AND HUGE REDWOODS… and the celebrated Skunk Train and the stunning surf and the mighty Noyo River may spring to mind when you’re daydreaming about Fort Bragg, but an outsized and appetizing event with an important mission has a way of taking centerstage come summer: It’s The World’s Largest Salmon BBQ, a water-close gathering with a history that stretches back to the 1970s. The South Noyo Harbor happening, which will line up the grills on the Fourth of July 2026, isn’t simply about enjoying a savory seafood meal in a vibrant community setting; proceeds from the event are donated to the Salmon Restoration Association, an organization working to “… improve salmon populations along the Mendocino County coast.” It’s the 55th go-around for this well-known fundraiser, one that promises “… good vibes, great eats, and smoky fun in person!” Tickets are available for purchase through the site, with an adult ticket priced at $44.52. The price of a child’s ticket is $23.18.
FORT BRAGG… always hums throughout the year and into the soft-air’d, soft-sky’d summer season, and there’s more afoot around the harbor and beyond in the weeks soon to unfold. A First Friday Summer Kick-off gets the gleeful times going June 5, with car shows, running events, fireworks, and more on the upcoming schedule. Merriment of a summer-sweet sort is also the vibe of the wider Mendocino County calendar, if you plan spend some time in the atmosphere-rich area in the months ahead, which, of course, is a wise and wonderful thing to do. Wine festivals, Willits Frontier Days, and Art in the Gardens in the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens upping the colorful coastal aura as we sail through June, July, and August.
