
Jocelyn Denise Bush
Jocelyn Denise Bush was born on May 6, 1957, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to the late John Newson and Emma Quarles. On July 21, 2026, Jocelyn passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love and comfort of her devoted family.
Jocelyn graduated from Howard High School in 1975. Following graduation, she continued her education at Edmondson Junior College, demonstrating her commitment to learning and personal growth.
Throughout her career, Jocelyn held professional roles at Dr. Delbert R. Kelly, DDS, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Memorial Hospital, Conifer Health Solutions, and CommonSpirit Health. She took great pride in her work and found joy in serving others. She especially cherished the friendships she built with her director, Sarah, and her Kentucky team, whom she considered an extension of her family.
She volunteered with several Chattanooga-area organizations, always seeking ways to make a positive difference in her community.
She will forever be remembered for her radiant smile, infectious laughter, and vibrant personality. She was genuine, outspoken, and never hesitated to speak the truth with honesty and love. Her strength, compassion, and unwavering faith earned her the admiration and respect of everyone who knew her.
Jocelyn was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her family was the greatest joy of her life, and her grandchildren were the light of her world. Her kindness, generosity, and selfless heart touched countless lives, and the legacy of her love will continue through all who knew her.
Jocelyn was preceded in death by her beloved parents, John Newson and Emma Quarles; her brother, Earl J. Quarles; and several family members.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory her loving daughter, Michelle (Corey) McGraw; her devoted son, LaMetris (Lakedra) Bush; her beloved grandchildren, Desiree Jones, Courtney Bush, and Corey McGraw II (LCJ); her loving sister, Mary Quarles; her nieces, Masami Quarles and Cassandra Jefferson; her bonus grandchildren, Imoni (Jose) Don, Micheal Robinson, Shamar and Malik Workman, and Josiah Sledge; lifelong friends, Brenda Maples and Pam Gurley; her grand-pets, Dash, Bella, Sadi, Zaza and Cali; host of brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
A service of remembrance honoring Jocelyn’s remarkable life will be held on Friday, Aug. 14, at 11:30 a.m. at Second Missionary Baptist Church, 2305 East Third Street, Chattanooga, 423 622-9995.
Interment will follow at Beautiful Greenwood Cemetery.
