Male pronounced dead after hit and run accident in Groton on Friday

A male victim was pronounced dead after being hit by a car in Groton on Friday night.
At around 11:15 p.m., emergency crews received a call that a black SUV was fleeing the scene after hitting a person on Toll Gate Road.
Upon arrival, the Groton Police Department located the victim laying on the side of the road and receiving treatment from a witness who was also an EMT.
Additional emergency personnel attempted to provide assistance, but the victim was pronounced dead on the scene.
The victim was identified as 39-year-old Dustin Tanta-Quidgeon of Uncasville.
Investigators are still trying to identify the suspect vehicle and operator.
The accident remains under investigation.
