Man arrested, accused of stabbing man in Groggy Frog parking lot in Southington

A 24-year-old Bristol man was arrested and is accused of stabbing a man in the parking lot of a Southington bar over the weekend, leaving the man hospitalized, police said.
Officers responded to the Groggy Frogg on Center Street around 12:11 a.m. on Saturday after receiving a report of a fight in the parking lot that resulted in a man being stabbed, according to police.
Police said the 24-year-old man was involved in an altercation with several other people and assaulted a 41-year-old man, causing a severe laceration to his torso. The man was taken to a local hospital.
Officers found the 24-year-old Bristol man a short distance from the scene and took him into custody, police said.
He was charged with assault in the first degree and breach of peace in the second degree and was held on a $250,000 bond. He was scheduled to appear in New Britain Superior Court on Monday.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Southington police Detective Massarelli at 860-378-1643.
