A Danbury police cruiser. Police said a 31-year-old city man has died following a head-on collision earlier this month. 

DANBURY — A man has died following a head-on collision while riding a motorcycle earlier this month, city police said. 

The victim was identified as 31-year-old Phillipe Silva, of Danbury, according to a police department news release. Police said they were notified Monday that Silva had died from his injuries he sustained in the crash. 

Police said the crash involving a Kia Forte occurred on Newtown Road around 9:15 p.m. on July 16. Police said the Kia was making a left turn into a private driveway when it was stuck by the motorcycle, which was traveling at a high rate of speed. 

Silva was transported to the hospital with critical injuries following the crash, police said. 

Police said the crash remains under active investigation.
