Fact: The viral video does not show BJP MP Kangana Ranaut being assaulted following her remarks about the CJP protesters. It depicts an unrelated incident involving Pranayita Das, Education Karmadhyaksha of the Jalpaiguri Zilla Parishad and daughter of senior Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Krishna Das, who was allegedly assaulted by BJP workers outside the Jalpaiguri Kotwali Police Station after appearing there in compliance with a Calcutta High Court directive in connection with a post-poll violence investigation. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.
To verify the claim, we conducted a Google keyword search but found no credible reports of BJP MP Kangana Ranaut being physically assaulted following her controversial remarks about the CJP protesters.
A reverse image search of keyframes from the viral video led us to multiple media reports (here, here, and here) published on 30 July 2026 featuring the same visuals. According to these reports, the woman in the video is Pranayita Das, Education Karmadhyaksha of the Jalpaiguri Zilla Parishad and daughter of senior Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Krishna Das. She had appeared at the Jalpaiguri Kotwali Police Station in compliance with a Calcutta High Court directive requiring her to cooperate with an investigation into a post-poll violence case. Outside the police station, BJP workers allegedly surrounded and assaulted her, chanted slogans of “chor, chor” (“thief, thief”), and threw eggs at her vehicle.
