A video featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Jagat Prakash Nadda (JP Nadda), Union Minister and Leader of the House in the Rajya Sabha, is being shared on social media (here, here, and here) with the claim that the two arrived in the same vehicle, with Nadda exiting from the opposite side of the car before walking around to formally greet the Prime Minister. The video is being circulated to mock the Prime Minister over the alleged sequence of events. Let’s verify the truth behind the video in this article.

The archived post can be found here.

Claim: The video shows PM Modi and JP Nadda arriving in the same vehicle, with Nadda getting out from the other side and greeting the Prime Minister with flowers in front of the cameras.

Fact: The video is from 27 July 2024 and does not show PM Modi and JP Nadda arriving in the same vehicle. Contemporary visuals from the event show that JP Nadda and the Prime Minister arrived at the BJP headquarters in separate vehicles. The person seated beside PM Modi in the viral video is an official accompanying the Prime Minister, not JP Nadda. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

A reverse image search of keyframes from the viral video led us to the same video uploaded on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official YouTube channel on 27 July 2024. According to the video’s caption, it shows PM Modi arriving at the BJP headquarters.

In the wider-angle version of the video, at around the 10-second mark, a man seated alongside the Prime Minister is seen stepping out of the vehicle carrying a few files. His face is briefly visible at around the 15-second mark. A closer look shows that the individual appears to be an official accompanying the Prime Minister, not JP Nadda.

According to reports (here, here), the video is from 27 July 2024, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and the then BJP National President, JP Nadda, attended a meeting with the Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers of BJP-ruled states at the BJP headquarters following the 2024 Lok Sabha election results.

We also found an X post by news agency PTI, dated 27 July 2024, showing JP Nadda arriving at the BJP headquarters in a white Mahindra Scorpio, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived separately in his Range Rover. This confirms that the two leaders arrived at the BJP headquarters in different vehicles that day.

Additionally, an X post by ANI dated 27 July 2024 shows that when Prime Minister Modi was leaving the meeting, the same official was seated to his right inside the vehicle.

Those who travel with the Prime Minister are either Special Protection Group (SPG) personnel assigned to his security or his Personal Secretary. In 2020 (here, here), Gujarat cadre IAS officer Hardik Satishchandra Shah was appointed as the Prime Minister’s Personal Secretary, a role later taken over by IFS officer Nidhi Tiwari in 2025.

A closer examination of the viral video, along with an ANI video showing Prime Minister Narendra Modi leaving the meeting on 27 July 2024, suggests that the person seated beside the Prime Minister closely resembles Hardik Satishchandra Shah. In both videos, the same official can be seen seated to the Prime Minister’s right, indicating that the individual accompanying him was an official, most likely his Personal Secretary and not JP Nadda.

While the individual seated beside the Prime Minister closely resembles Hardik Satishchandra Shah, we cannot conclusively identify him, as no official or reliable source confirms his identity. However, the available evidence clearly shows that JP Nadda was not travelling with the Prime Minister, and that the two leaders arrived at the BJP headquarters in separate vehicles that day.

To sum up, this video does not show PM Modi and JP Nadda arriving together or staging a greeting for the cameras.
