Netanyahu’s office said they would discuss Iran and ways to “expand the circle of peace” in the region. Trump said Monday that he and Netanyahu had “a little difference” on Iran but remained “pretty close.” Israeli diplomatic sources said Netanyahu hopes to repair ties with Trump and present possible Israeli strike plans targeting Iranian infrastructure and regime strongholds.The two leaders have also clashed over Israel’s campaign against Hezbollah in Lebanon, where Trump is expected to press Netanyahu to expand Israeli withdrawals from pilot zones, while Gaza and rising settler violence in the West Bank may also feature. Netanyahu will also attend a memorial service for Senator Lindsey Graham, who died July 11. REUTERS/Stringer Oman has proposed a joint regional mechanism with Iran to manage the Strait of Hormuz, funded through voluntary fees paid by countries and companies using the waterway, a Gulf source told Reuters on Tuesday.The plan is modeled on arrangements in the Strait of Malacca, where users contribute to navigation safety, environmental protection and search-and-rescue operations, according to the report. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi discussed the security of the strait in phone calls with his Saudi and Omani counterparts late Monday evening, according to a statement published Tuesday on Telegram. Newly appointed Ambassador Mohamed Alim arrived in the Somali capital on Monday to begin his mission and was welcomed at Aden Adde International Airport by senior Somali officials. Algeria closed its embassy in the country due to historical differences during the Cold War.
