Police authorities in Coron, Palawan are working with Meta to identify the individuals behind the online school threats.
Authorities in Coron, Palawan are continuing their efforts to identify the people responsible for a series of online threats that caused concern among students, parents, teachers, and local residents in recent weeks.
Coron Municipal Police Station PNP PCapt. Mark RJ Sigue has confirmed that it is now coordinating with Meta, the company behind Facebook and other social media platforms, to help track down the individuals who allegedly posted threats involving violence and possible shooting incidents targeting schools in the municipality.
According to local police officials, initial information has already been received from Meta as part of the ongoing investigation. The data reportedly helped authorities trace the location of one of the accounts linked to the threats.
Investigators found leads pointing to locations in Busuanga, Palawan, as well as Bulacan.
Police have also obtained information that may help identify a person connected to one of the online posts. Authorities are currently coordinating with local government officials in Busuanga to verify whether the individual involved is a resident of the area.
The investigation began after police received three separate threats that circulated on social media. The posts reportedly mentioned several schools in Coron, including Coron Fisheries School, a school in Barangay Decalachao, and Claudio Sandoval Elementary School Taas at Baba.
The online messages quickly raised concern among families and school communities. Many parents became worried about the safety of their children, prompting authorities to immediately monitor the situation and strengthen security measures around educational institutions.
Since the threats surfaced, police officers have remained vigilant and have continued conducting monitoring activities. Authorities said they have not received any new threats in recent days, which has helped ease some of the concerns within the community.
