The couple could have had a very different experience on the ITV2 show had they not found a spark with each other
The Love Island villa is still reeling from the exit of Lola Deal and Sean 'Fitzy' Fitzgerald.
The couple who formed at the very start of Series 13 were finally shown the door in a brutal dumping, with their fate decided by co-stars Lorenzo Alessi and Julia Majchrzak who had been voted the public's favourite couple.
Lola volunteered herself and Sean to go in order to save Lorenzo and Julia from the impossible decision of deciding which of the three couples who received the lowest number of votes should get the boot. The couples at risk were Lola and Sean, Mica Harris and Samraj Toor, and Casa Amor bombshells Martha Rothwell and Jordon Wilson.
Since their exit, the couple have been speaking out about their experience and future plans, including getting a "little apartment" together in Dublin. They also let slip who they would have dated in the villa had they not struck up a partnership, and their answers were surprising.
Appearing on Love Island: Aftersun in the wake of their shock dumping, host Maya Jama pressed the couple on who else they might have been interested in romantically.
Sean said he could have seen himself with Yasmin Hadlow because of "how nice she is". She was also Lola's best friend in the villa, so it was certainly a safe answer for him to give.
Meanwhile Lola said there were "a couple" of options she would have been open to. The first would have been dumped Islander Sam Workman, who she called her "little bestie."
"Sam was my little bestie in there from the start and he was the sweetest boy, so obviously a lot of love for Sam," she said, before revealing the second option. "For the longest time, I would say Samraj. He’s such a gent."
Discussing how they left the programme, Lola called it "the perfect end to our journey." She added: "Me and Sean were really happy to have gone. I think we had the most incredible time there. We met the most incredible people and most of all, we found each other.
"The other two couples there had so much left to give and so much left to learn about themselves, whereas me and Sean were in a really good place. Being able to take the burden off Lorenzo, just having to pick, because we know how much he struggled the last time, was nice. We went in there for love and we found that, so there was nothing more we needed from it."
Love Island airs Sundays to Fridays at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
