SOLVANG HAS CENTERPOINT ENERGY, and anyone who has called upon the Santa Ynez Valley hamlet can sense it from the get-go. It’s a centerpoint for windmills, for clogs, for colorful dirndls and tasting rooms serving primo wine and Trolls, too. It’s also become a LEGO-lively location, thanks to the town’s Danish roots, and you can find competitive events click-click-clicking around Solvang at various points on the calendar. One of those brick-strong celebrations is up on April 18 and 19, and you don’t have to be a master builder to attend, though, for sure, people who spend lots of time making lots of LEGO structures will be there. It’s “Brick & Builds 2026,” an “immersive weekend celebration” that is bringing together “… professional builders, LEGO master builders, and brick enthusiasts from near and far.”
A ONE-DAY EXPO TICKET, for an adult, is $17.85 plus a fee, while a child’s admission is priced at $12.51 along with a fee. If you’ve got an older tween or teen builder in your home who is 12 to 17, look into a new offering this year: the Youth Dedicated Bricks Showcase, which is all about giving these up-and-coming LEGO wizards the opportunity to let their “creativity and innovation” shine in a public space. Do note that participants should be registered in advance, and ticket prices are on the site. Other diversions happening during the busy, bricky weekend include the Brick Quest Scavenger Hunt and a Public Exhibition at the Solvang Veterans Memorial Building. If you can’t “click” with this springtime to-do due to your own busy schedule, look to September, and Solvang’s famous “Danish Days,” which has featured a LEGO tent and activities in recent years.
