Authentic Latin Food and beer to accompany it is now available in Chattanooga at Conga, that is located at in the Southside at 26 E. Main St. Parking is available behind the restaurant in the busy neighborhood.

The business was formerly named Taco Rico and was run by the matriarch of the family. The name was changed when family members took control of the business. It is open from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

The newly constructed hotel, Caption by Hyatt Chattanooga, has opened at 105 W. Main St., in the walkable Southside neighborhood. Peter Rodriges told the beer board that this is the first Hyatt branded hotel in Chattanooga and has 123 rooms and on-site restaurants.

On the first floor is “Nomia Modern Kitchen,” a full-service restaurant that serves breakfast, brunch and dinner with an Asian flair. And the “Talk Shop” is in the lobby serving coffee and grab-and-go bites throughout the day. At night there is a rooftop bar and lounge serving small plates and cocktails.

The owners of four restaurants in Chattanooga, Gabriel Sosa and Jesus Esquivel Serrano, have been called before the beer board at many meetings since November 2025 for a variety of violations. Beer Inspector Sgt. David Cowan discovered that beer was being sold at all of the businesses without a beer permit from the city, and that had been done for several years at all locations. The largest fine that can be imposed is $1,000 for each violation. The owners will have to pay the $4,000 fine, plus a new license has to be applied for from scratch for each of the restaurants, because they all have been out of compliance, long past the grace period for renewing a license.

The restaurants involved are Cabana’s Night Club and Event Center 1800 Rossville Ave., Mexiville Restaurant, 103 Cherokee Blvd., Mexiville Restaurant, 809 Market Street and Ci-Chi’s Charred Chicken 811 Market St. The beer board was told that none of the fines have been paid but the restaurants are still operating.

Sgt. Cowan was asked to do a compliance check to see if beer has been sold at those locations since the beer board set the penalty. There is a possibility that beer could have been bought from outlets other than the local beer distributors. He will report back to the board at the next meeting.
