Dragon Ball Launches a New Official Series With Goku's Namek Arrival

Goku's iconic arrival on the planet Namek to clean house against the Ginyu Force is being recreated as part of a brand-new Dragon Ball series, though fans will have to wait until 2027 to purchase it.
Few arcs in manga history have ever won over the fans as much as the trip to Planet Namek in Dragon Ball. What started with Gohan and Krillin helplessly outmatched by Frieza's forces culminated in Goku reaching the world after an extended period of gravity training, giving him the strength to obliterate anyone who stood in his way. This led to his battle with Frieza -- arguably the greatest fight in Weekly Shonen Jump history.

The moment Goku finally landed on Namek has been immortalized as the first Dragon Ball entry in the brand-new STARTune line of the Figuarts ZERO series. As announced on the official Dragon Ball website, Tamashii Nations is releasing "Son Goku - Arrival at the Battlefield" for 8,250 yen (roughly US$50).
Son Goku - Arrival at the Battlefield is a dioramic figure depicting the iconic Dragon Ball protagonist standing in the doorway of the ship that he used to travel to Namek. The figure is made from PVC and ABS and stands at around 250 mm tall.
Fans can reserve their copy of Son Goku - Arrival at the Battlefield starting this month, with the figure expected to ship out in February 2027. Unlike many similar pieces of high-quality Dragon Ball merchandise, the Son Goku - Arrival at the Battlefield figure will also be available to purchase in the U.S., meaning fans won't need to rely on reseller sites.

A Dragon Ball fan's appreciation of the Namek arc is often tied to whether they watched it during its initial English broadcast or saw it years later as part of the home releases or on streaming services. The Crunchyroll generation didn't have to sit through countless repeats or commercial breaks, which made the extended/stretched nature of Namek stand out like a sore thumb.
Memes about the Namek blowing up in five minutes aside, it's still counted as one of the greatest arcs in manga history by many fans, with other Shonen Jump franchises like Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen arguably failing to top it. Goku's clash with Frieza, culminating in the very first Super Saiyan transformation, has become known as peak shonen material -- one of the many reasons the series is so beloved decades later.
