Dragon Ball Launches Another New Series With 4 Different Goku Forms

Dragon Ball’s latest release puts Goku front and center, as it features four different forms of the protagonist seen over four decades of the franchise.
Per Toy People, Bandai’s HG (High Grade) Gashapon figure series has released its latest Goku edition miniature figures. Titled "HG Dragon Ball 06 GOKU EDITION 2," the new lineup features four forms of Goku, including his appearance as a child, his base adult form, his Super Saiyan state and his Super Saiyan Blue form.
The Goku figures will be available in Gashapon machines across Japan starting this month. These are popular Japanese vending dispensers that distribute capsule toys at random, with fans standing to receive one of the four versions of the Saiyan with each purchase. Increasingly, such merchandise is also seeing international releases, such as via Bandai's official gashapon U.S. distribution.
All four figures stand approximately 10 centimeters tall and are priced at 500 yen (approximately US$3.40) each. While they are currently only available in Japan, the product may soon make its way to international markets, as with previous Dragon Ball merchandise releases.
Dragon Ball's Latest Release Captures Goku's Different Forms from the SeriesThe latest Goku lineup draws from iconic instances of the Dragon Ball series’ long history. The young Goku figure is modeled after his appearance in the Demon King Piccolo saga and recreates the moment he steps in to face Piccolo and his minion Drum, saving Tien from their onslaught.
Goku’s base form, meanwhile, is based on the famous cover illustration that Akira Toriyama drew for Weekly Shonen Jump 1990 no. 37 to commemorate the manga surpassing five million copies in circulation. It shows Goku firing off a Kamehameha, which is captured perfectly by the Gashapon figure.
The Super Saiyan figure is from the Frieza Saga, which shows him powering up in rage during the final moments of his fight against Frieza on Namek. Every detail, including the expression on Goku’s face, the torn gi and the contours of his muscles, is sculpted immaculately in this figure.
The final piece in the HG Gashapon HG Dragon Ball 06 GOKU EDITION 2 is Goku in his Super Saiyan Blue form. As fans might recognize, this form is from the Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F film, where the character utilizes it in battle against Golden Frieza. Viewers can also relive the moment in the upcoming Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, a remastered version of the arc which will likely release in Fall 2026.
The HG Gashapon series is considered a pocket-friendly figure line by fans, yet it still features quality sculpting and paint jobs that give it an almost premium feel. Originally launched in 2003, the line was popular among collectors before experiencing a period of lull.
The series was officially relaunched in 2024 with updated figures utilizing the latest cutting-edge technology, including translucent pearl and metallic paint coats for hair and aura effects. That 2024 relaunch itself began with a dedicated Goku line featuring the Saiyan in his strongest forms, including the Ultra Instinct.
The latest release marks the sixth volume in the current lineup and the second time a Goku-specific edition has been made available to fans, hence the name HG Dragon Ball 06 GOKU EDITION 2.
