Former Middlesbrough midfielder Dan Barlaser has quickly found himself a new club after his Riverside exit this summer.
Barlaser has joined MK Dons, where he reunites with his former Rotherham United boss Paul Warne. He was released by Boro at the end of his contract and was free to sign for another club from July 1.
The Tynesider, who joined Boro in January 2023, struggled to make an impact at Boro and spent the last year of his contract on loan at Scottish Premiership side Hibernian.
But having now joined League One Dons, Barlaser said: “I’m delighted to be here. It was a massive factor for me to come and play under Paul Warne again. I would say I played the best football of my career under him.
“I’m delighted to be here. The facilities look fantastic. It’s exciting to come at this time after the lads did so well last season to get promoted.”
Of signing the 29-year-old, Warne said: “He's a player that I’ve worked with before and had promotions with. He’s also a really good kid, really motivated and brilliant in the dressing room.
“He’s a very good footballer, great on set pieces, has a brilliant range of passing and he's always looking to play forward, so he’s a good addition to our midfield options already.
“We've got a really strong midfield, I know Dan has played with Ben Wiles before as well, so he'll know people in the dressing room already, so it should be an easy fit.
“He’s obviously worked with me and Richie Barker before too, so it was an easy sell from both sides, I’m really pleased with him.”
