Karl Darlow has joined Man Utd on a free transfer after leaving Leeds following three years at Elland Road.

Karl Darlow is "extremely proud" to sign for Manchester United after completing a transfer from Leeds.

The 35-year-old goalkeeper has joined United on a free transfer after his deal at Leeds came to an end. He spent three years at Elland Road and made 22 Premier League appearances last term after forcing his way into Daniel Farke's side.

Darlow will be United's No.2 goalkeeper next season and will play back-up to Senne Lammens, who has established himself as the first-choice since joining the club last summer.

As his signing was confirmed, Darlow said: “I am extremely proud to sign for Manchester United. I’m joining an excellent group of goalkeepers and I’m really looking forward to all pushing each other to ensure that we maintain the highest standards, which this club demands.

“This is a really special opportunity; everyone can see what an exciting time it is for the club and I cannot wait to play my part in supporting my team mates and helping to drive the group forwards.”

Darlow has plenty of experience, having won 15 caps for Wales and spent nine years at Newcastle, as well as that spell at Leeds.

With Andre Onana, Altay Bayindir and Radek Vitek all set to leave the club this summer, United needed another goalkeeper and were keen to sign a domestic option to strengthen their homegrown quota.
