Ridge Research and Consulting, LLC (BRRC) is seeking an Acoustical Engineer / Scientist to join our team in Asheville, North Carolina. We welcome candidates at a range of experience levels and are particularly interested in recent M.S. and Ph.D. graduates with strong technical backgrounds in acoustics, aeroacoustics, or related fields.
BRRC is a small acoustics research and consulting firm focused on solving challenging and often unique technical problems for government and commercial clients. Our work spans full-scale aerospace acoustic measurements, advanced signal processing, and environmental noise modeling. Our research portfolio includes projects in jet and rocket noise, sonic booms, eVTOL/UAS noise, wildland fire acoustics, environmental acoustics, sound propagation, and soundscape modeling.
The Role
At BRRC, engineers and scientists have opportunities to contribute across the full arc of a project, from conceptualizing technical approaches and designing experiments to conducting field measurements, developing models and software, analyzing and interpreting data, and communicating results to clients.
The position may include field measurement campaigns and travel to unique test and operational sites across the United States and around the world. Depending on interests and experience, a successful candidate may contribute to experimental acoustics, computational modeling, signal processing, environmental acoustics, measurement system development, or other areas of applied acoustics research.
We welcome applicants at all career stages. More experienced candidates will have opportunities to lead complex projects, develop new work, and help expand BRRC’s technical capabilities.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for candidates who are technically strong, curious, hands-on, and interested in tackling difficult problems as part of a collaborative team. A successful candidate may bring deep expertise in one area while having the interest and ability to learn and contribute across a broad range of projects.
Working at BRRC
As a small technical firm, BRRC offers engineers and scientists opportunities to take ownership of projects, work directly with experienced colleagues and clients, and contribute at every stage, from initial planning through analysis and delivery. We value technical rigor, collaboration, open discussion, and a willingness to take on difficult problems across a range of technical areas.
We want our staff to continue developing as engineers and scientists. Depending on the project, BRRC employees have opportunities to publish technical work, present at conferences, and remain active in the broader acoustics research community.
BRRC is based in Asheville, North Carolina, in the Blue Ridge Mountains. This role is an in-person position, reflecting the collaborative way we work. BRRC provides the opportunity to build a technical career in a research-oriented environment while living in an area known for its outdoor recreation and quality of life.
