The genome sequence of the Small Coronet, Craniophora pontica (Staudinger, 1879) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) [version 1; peer review: 1 approved]

We present a genome assembly from a male specimen of Craniophora pontica (Small Coronet; Arthropoda; Insecta; Lepidoptera; Noctuidae). The assembly contains two haplotypes with total lengths of 430.34 megabases and 430.43 megabases. For haplotypes 1 and 2, respectively, 99.80% and 99.53% of the assembly sequence was scaffolded into 31 chromosomal pseudomolecules, including the Z sex chromosome. Hi-C data were used to phase the assembly, and both haplotypes were assembled to chromosome level. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled, with a length of 15.32 kilobases. Gene annotation of this assembly by Ensembl identified 12,362 protein-coding genes. This work is part of Project Psyche, a collaborative programme generating genomes for European butterflies and moths.
