The genome sequence of the Striped Grayling, Hipparchia fidia (Linnaeus, 1767) (Lepidoptera: Nymphalidae) [version 1; peer review: 1 approved]

We present a genome assembly from a male specimen of Hipparchia fidia (Striped Grayling; Arthropoda; Insecta; Lepidoptera; Nymphalidae). The assembly contains two haplotypes with total lengths of 382.57 megabases and 388.02 megabases. Most of the haplotype 1 assembly (99.63%) was scaffolded into 30 chromosomal pseudomolecules, including the Z sex chromosome and the B1 supernumerary chromosome. Haplotype 2 was assembled to scaffold level. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled, with a length of 15.21 kilobases. Gene annotation of this assembly by Ensembl identified 12,360 protein-coding genes. This work is part of Project Psyche, a collaborative programme generating genomes for European butterflies and moths.
