Rossi: Working on E-Cat Producing AC Electricity for SSM

Andrea Rossi seems to be pushing hard towards launching the E-Cat as an electricity generator. He has not yet guaranteed that this will be the case, but he seems to be hopeful. He previously stated that it would have to launch as a heater due to problems connected with the self-sustain mode, and says that is still a plan B if the SSM does not prove to be reliable.

One thing that appears to be different with the new SSM configuration is that it is set up to produce AC electricity. Previously the E-Cat was described as producing DC natively, in the same way as a solar panel, and to obtain AC an inverter would be required.

Here are a couple of questions I asked him on the Journal of Nuclear Physics.

Dear Andrea,

Am I correct in understanding that if it works as you hope, the SSM E-Cat would have a normal AC socket built in that you can plug any normal electronic device into?

Frank Acland:
You are correct,

Dear Andrea,

Thank you for the confirmation about the AC socket on the proposed NGU. Do you think there will be the option for more than one AC socket on an NGU unit?

Frank Acland:
Surely there will be multiple sockets, depending on the power of the assembly: obviously the load cannot overcome the power of the specific assembly; in case of overload, the Ecat will automatically be turned off by the protection circuits,
Warm Regards,
A.R.

When asked whether there would be an option for the E-Cat to produce DC, Rossi replied: “To turn 110/230 VAC into DC is not a problem”. So it would seem that producing reliable DC directly from the E-Cat is problematic, and perhaps AC is seen as an easier alternative.
