After progressing through the Area Heats and Semi-Finals, The Perse Prep quiz team earned a place at the Quiz Club General Knowledge National Finals at Oxford University. The pupils competed against more than 40 schools from across the country in one of the UK’s most prestigious primary school quiz competitions.
The Quiz Club General Knowledge competition is one of the UK’s largest and most challenging quiz contests for primary school pupils, testing teams on a wide range of subjects including history, geography, science, literature, current affairs and popular culture. Schools must first progress through Area Heats and Semi Finals before earning a place at the prestigious National Finals.
On 29 June, The Perse Prep quiz team travelled to Oxford University to compete in the Quiz Club General Knowledge National Finals after successfully qualifying through the earlier stages of the competition.
Facing more than 40 teams from across the country, the pupils tackled a demanding series of questions covering a broad range of topics. The competition was fiercely contested throughout the day, with teams required to demonstrate not only an impressive breadth of knowledge but also strong collaboration and quick thinking under pressure.
After a superb performance, the Perse Prep team finished second nationally, securing the school’s highest-ever placing in the competition. This was the third time a Perse Prep team has reached the National Finals, making this year’s achievement an especially significant milestone.
The team was made up of Shashwat, Athena, Tom and Thomas, whose dedication, enthusiasm and teamwork helped deliver this outstanding result.
Commenting on the team’s achievement, James Piper, Head of The Perse Prep, said: “This is an exceptional achievement from a truly talented group of pupils. Shashwat, Athena, Tom and Thomas demonstrated not only impressive knowledge, but also teamwork, resilience and a willingness to challenge themselves. We are immensely proud of their success and the way they represented the school throughout the competition.”
Congratulations to the team on this outstanding achievement!
