Defence major Bharat Electronics (BEL) posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 1,054.53 crore in Q1 FY27, up nearly 9% YoY from Rs 969.91 crore in the year-ago period.

Sequentially, however, the PSU company’s net profit dropped nearly 52% from Rs 2,225 crore reported in the fourth quarter of FY26. Revenue from operations meanwhile grew around 25% YoY, but declined 46% QoQ to Rs 5,546.98 crore during the April-June quarter of FY27.

Bharat Electronics during the first quarter saw its total income rise more than 24% YoY to Rs 5,716.54 crore, but sequentially it fell nearly 45% QoQ. Total expenses meanwhile rose 30% YoY to Rs 4,320 crore during the quarter under review. The defence major’s earnings per share (EPS) stood at Rs 1.44 in Q1 FY27, as against Rs 1.33 in Q1 FY26 and Rs 3.04 in Q4 FY26.

Along with the Q1 earnings, BEL announced that its board of directors during its meeting held today considered and approved the proposal to increase the company’s authorised share capital from Rs 750 crore divided into 750 crore equity shares into Rs 1,000 crore divided into 1,000 crore shares, subject to shareholders’ approval at the upcoming annual general meeting (AGM).

Bharat Electronics in its press release said that its order book stood at Rs 72,258 crore as on July 1 this year.

BEL Share Price

BEL announced its quarterly earnings in the post-market hours of Monday. The shares of the company closed marginally higher at Rs 407.15 apiece on NSE today. The stock has overall made marginal losses in one week and a month.

The defence stock is however up a little over 2% in 2026 so far. In the longer term, BEL shares have gained only 3% in a year, but delivered sharp returns of 220% in three years and 567% in five years. The company at the end of today’s trading session had a market value of Rs 2.97 lakh crore.
