Bharti Airtel recorded its 19th straight profitable quarter, with India mobile growth boosted by postpaid users and data customers.

New Delhi: Bharti Airtel's net profit, excluding exceptional items rose 35.5% year-on-year to Rs 8,057.2 crore in the April to June quarter, driven by record postpaid net additions and growing smartphone data customers.

Consolidated revenue for the fiscal first quarter climbed 18.4% year-on-year to Rs 58,539 crore supported by strong growth in India and Africa operations.

India mobile revenues, which contribute around 73% of the total consolidated revenues, grew 9.2% on-year to Rs 29,928.9 crore driven by improved ARPU and strong gains in smartphone data customers.


Airtel's average revenue per user (ARPU), a key performance metric, grew 2.72% sequentially to Rs 264 in Q1FY27, driven by higher postpaid net additions and higher data usage by customers.

During the quarter, the second largest telecom operator rolled out priority coverage access for its postpaid user base leveraging 5G network slicing technology.

The telco reported that it added a record 1 million net postpaid users during the quarter, its highest in a quarter ever.

For Airtel, it marked the 19th consecutive quarter of profits, after six straight losses earlier.

Bharti Airtel share price closed 0.28% higher at Rs 1956.30 on the BSE. Results were announced after market hours.
