Barca and Man City in for Kroupi

Any hopes Liverpool have of signing Eli Junior Kroupi are potentially fading after Barcelona entered the race.

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has reported the Catalans view the Frenchman as an alternative to Julian Alvarez if they cannot sign him this summer, with Atletico Madrid holding firm they will not send him to the Camp Nou.

Manchester City are also reported to have enquired about Kroupi's availability this summer, but Bournemouth do not want to sell the 20-year-old attacker.

Liverpool's more pressing concern is perhaps a deal for Kroupi's team-mate Rayan, who has been touted as a potential Mohamed Salah successor.

That being said, if the Reds did hold an interest in signing Kroupi, news of Barcelona's entry into the race may just about crush any chance they have of competing for the player.

Real Madrid increase Diomande offer

Real Madrid have reportedly upped their offer to sign Yan Diomande to an eye-watering £102million.

Jose Mourinho's side have only recently entered the race as a competitor to Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain for the 19-year-old.

Sky Germany has suggested Los Blancos have now tabled an offer of £102m after seeing their previous bid worth £94m rejected.

Previous reports have suggested RB Leipzig are holding out for closer to £120m for the player as they seek to agree a new contract with the winger.

The news comes following reports Vinicius Jr could be tempted to leave the Bernabeu, with Liverpool said to be among those interested in his signature.

Kerkez enjoying life back under Iraola

It should come as no surprise that Milos Kerkez is happy to be back playing under Andoni Iraola.

The Hungarian caught some criticism for his debut season at Anfield, which led to speculation Andy Robertson's time on Merseyside could even be extended.

But after just one season apart, the former Bournemouth duo have been reunited. And Kerkez has spoken highly of the new system his manager is looking to implement after beating Sunderland 4-2 in a pre-season friendly on Saturday.

"I like it," he told the official Liverpool website when asked how he's enjoying himself under Iraola's command. "You see me higher. I can play higher, going one against one.

"I still need to work a bit to get the legs but this is why this is pre-season and [it was] some good minutes.

"I'm really proud of everyone and we're working really hard this pre-season. You can see in training sessions, everyone is happy. We know what we have to do. A big season ahead."

Chiesa enjoying new role under Iraola

Federico Chiesa enjoyed an enthralling start to pre-season with his display against Sunderland on Saturday.

The Italian, who has been strongly linked with the Anfield exit this summer, scored in the 4-2 win over the Black Cats in Nashville.

He also helped set up Lewis Koumas' second-half finish to seal the win and all from an improvised role as a makeshift striker.

Chiesa spoke after the match about he's happy for another "fresh start" under Iraola as he approaches his third campaign in red.

Due to the absence of players like Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak, the former Juventus star was thrown into a false nine role for the second half in Tennessee.

However, Chiesa was content to fill in as needed and may have shown enough to suggest he's worth keeping on this season as he said: “He put me [at] striker today and he wants me there. I have played my whole career as a winger but I am happy to play striker as well.

“Preseason is always hard, no? We didn’t just start, we have been training two weeks now with a new coach.

"We have seen what he wants. He wants high intensity, one versus one all over the pitch, that’s what we wanted to show today. Of course it is hard, it is preseason."

Fresh Alex Scott bid

Chelsea are reportedly weighing up a fresh bid for Liverpool-linked Alex Scott after their first offer was turned down.

The Blues supposedly saw an opening proposal worth £64million turned down by Bournemouth.

However, Sky Germany has now suggested Xabi Alonso's side will return with an improved package.

Scott, who shone under new Reds boss Andoni Iraola on the south coast, has been touted for a reunion with his former boss at Anfield.

However, other priorities for Liverpool this summer mean they look likely to fall behind the pack unless their recruitment makes a sudden shift towards midfield in the very near future.

Reds target another PSG forward - and it's not Barcola

While speculation of a move for Bradley Barcola progresses, Liverpool have entered the market for a second PSG forward.

Reports in France have suggested the Reds have also been offered the chance to sign his 18-year-old team-mate Ibrahim Mbaye.

Mbaye featured for Senegal at the World Cup and would come at considerably less cost than his Parc des Princes comrade.

TEAMtalk has claimed sources have verified the news after Mbaye turned down the chance to join Aston Villa, with his representatives also supposedly offering him to Manchester City.

Micky van de Ven happy at Spurs

Micky van de Ven believes Tottenham have “new ambition” after a £237million summer spending spree, with the rumoured Liverpool target insisting the future looks bright in north London.

After Spurs narrowly avoided relegation on the final day of the 2025-26 Premier League campaign, majority owners the Lewis family promised to be “all in” to fund the required rebuild and six arrivals have followed.

Tottenham have broken their transfer record twice, firstly for £85m midfielder Mateus Fernandes before a £100m package secured Sandro Tonali from Newcastle, and Van de Ven acknowledged Europe is the aim for a club which has finished 17th two years in a row.

Liverpool have been linked with the Dutch defender in dispatches, although the ECHO understands the Reds have never acted upon any potential interest in him.

Ifeanyi Ndukwe could head home

Teenage defender Ifeanyi Ndukwe impressed everyone with his display against Sunderland on Saturday night, when the 18-year-old made his first appearace in a red shirt as an early replacement for the injured Joe Gomez.

Ndukwe's display was so good that news that the 18-year-old won't be able to feature for the first-team competitively this season has been met with dismay by supporters.

The centre-back still lacks a work permit to be able to play in the UK, but reports in Austria claim that he could head back to former club Austria Vienna to spend the season in their first-team.

That could be a solution that benefits everyone.

PSG are claimed to value the 23-year-old at around £140m, though Liverpool are reportedly seeking a compromise over the club's asking price. Liverpool have been linked with several wingers throughout the transfer window and it remains a key area that Andoni Iraola is looking to strengthen.

Chelsea stance on Pedro Neto

Liverpool are one of several clubs to be linked with Pedro Neto but Chelsea would reportedly demand a huge fee for the Portuguese winger. The Reds remain in the market for wide forwards following Mohamed Salah's departure.

The Daily Mail reports that Chelsea are not actively looking to sell Neto and are yet to place a price on the 26-year-old. However, the £100m-plus valuations being touted for PSG’s Bradley Barcola and RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande would influence Chelsea’s asking price, despite being unlikely to command a similar fee

Manchester City have also been linked with Neto. New manager Enzo Maresca previously worked with the forward during his time at Chelsea.

Liverpool stars agree on Andoni Iraola

Liverpool prospects Kieran Morrison and Lewis Koumas have been impressed by Andoni Iraola. Morrison and Koumas both scored in the recent 4-2 win over Sunderland and are keen to take their chance under the new boss, who has brought a different approach to training.

"It’s been so intense compared to previous seasons," Morrison said when speaking post-match. "I've not been really around it — but from what everyone’s telling me as well and what I’ve seen, it’s been so intense. There’s been double sessions, my legs have been finished by like 9pm! So, the intensity, what Andoni’s brought is very high."

Bradley Barcola transfer alternative

Liverpool have also been linked with a move for Juventus forward Francisco Conceicao. The wide forward is believed to be valued at around £43million, according to Tuttosport.

Barcola is high on Andoni Iraola's list, but the Frenchman is valued at around £140m, which would eclipse the £125m the club forked out for Alexander Isak last season.

Conceicao, while not having a reputation as strong as Barcola's has impressed in Europe throughout his career and could be a cheaper alternative.

"Maybe there have been too many fresh starts. But I don’t care, I am trying to do my best for this new manager. Last season under Arne Slot, I was trying to do my best.

"Last year I felt ready for a bigger role, then it depended on the coach whether he wanted me to play or not. Of course I wanted to play more but it is what it is. The gaffer decided to do so, he had his game plans, he took his decisions, I have nothing to say about that.

"It is football. This year, let us say it is a new chapter. There is a new manager and I have to focus on that. He put me striker today and he wants me there. The only conversations I've had [with Iraola] were about pressing and tactics."
