CarbonCloud® reaches an important technical milestone

CO₂ Value Europe member  REVCOO has announced a major milestone for its CarbonCloud® technology, achieving 99.99% CO₂ purity at the outlet of its post-combustion capture pilot operating on real industrial lime kiln flue gas at the Bocahut site.

Designed to broaden access to Carbon Capture and Utilisation (CCU), CarbonCloud® uses an antisublimation-based process that can efficiently capture CO₂ even from low-concentration industrial flue gases while remaining resistant to common pollutants. The technology delivers a high-purity CO₂ stream directly at the capture site, ready for transport, utilisation or storage.

The successful operation of the pilot under real industrial conditions represents an important step in validating the technology ahead of larger-scale deployment.

High-quality CO₂ is essential for Carbon Capture and Utilisation

For Carbon Capture and Utilisation (CCU), capturing CO₂ is only the first step. The captured carbon must also meet the quality requirements of downstream processes, whether it is converted into fuels, chemicals or materials.

Producing high-purity CO₂ directly at the point of capture can reduce the need for additional treatment, facilitate integration across the CCU value chain and increase confidence for industrial project developers and investors. As more CCU projects move towards commercial deployment, delivering a reliable and specification-ready CO₂ stream becomes an increasingly important factor for successful implementation.

Innovation across the CO₂ Value Europe membership continues to strengthen the technologies needed to build a competitive European carbon circular economy.

REVCOO’s latest milestone demonstrates how advances in carbon capture are supporting not only the reduction of industrial emissions but also the creation of high-quality carbon feedstocks that can replace fossil carbon in industrial value chains. As Europe scales up carbon management solutions, technologies that enable captured CO₂ to become a reliable resource will play an important role in expanding the deployment of CCU across sectors.
