Two Greater Manchester businesses have been shortlisted for a major award. Nominations for the annual Uber Eats Restaurant of the Year Awards have been revealed as the food ordering platform celebrates its tenth birthday this year.
As with previous years, the awards aims to spotlight and champion small restaurant businesses across the UK. For its anniversary year, Uber Eats has included two special anniversary categories as well: Gamechanger and Titan Trailblazer.
The first recognises a best-in-class, medium-sized restaurant that has had a huge impact on the food industry over the past five years. Titan Trailblazer meanwhile, spotlights a restaurant or individual that has made a meaningful impact on their community over the past five years, whether by supporting local causes, raising the bar on issues like sustainability, or building best-in-class teams.

Spanning a variety of cuisine types and hundreds of restaurants, the awards highlight the very best restaurants from across the platform. Food lovers across the UK and Ireland are now invited to cast their vote for their favourite shortlisted restaurants before polling closes.
Heading up this year’s judging panel is acclaimed comedian, award-winning podcaster, and food authority Ed Gamble. Ed is joined on the judging panel by Seema Pankhania, chef, cookbook author and leading food creator; Lorraine Copes, founder of Be Inclusive Hospitality; Merve Basci, General Manager of Uber Eats UK; Eating with Todd, the UK’s most prominent food creator; and Chris Riley, Founder of Silver’s Deli and 2025 Restaurant of the Year winner.
Historically, a number of Greater Manchester spots have made the shortlist - and this year is no different. Two spots with a presence in the city centre, but also further afield, have been nominated in the North West category, alongside just three other restaurants.
The first is Fat Pat's, the beloved backstreet sandwich shop that started as a tiny hole-in-the-wall in an alley in 2022 and grew through word of mouth, long queues, and a thousands of shares on social media.
In recent years, the takeaway, which serves mega sandwiches through an unassuming hatch on Portland Street in the city centre, near Chinatown, has gone viral, regularly appearing on huge Instagram, TikTok and YouTube accounts. It's popular sandwiches include the Philly Cheesesteak, Hot' Honey Fried Chicken and Shrimp Po'Boy.
As well as their sublime subs, the team at Fat Pat's have also made a name for themselves through community initiatives, support for people experiencing homelessness, and contributions toward protecting vulnerable people, animals, and wildlife.
Sharing the news on Instagram, and encouraging customers to vote for them for the coveted prize, they wrote: "We've been nominated!

From a pop-up in Chorlton, to our hatch in Manchester Chinatown, and new restaurant in Shoreditch, we're still a small independent business slinging sandwiches - and we couldn't have done it without your support.

Also nominated this year is famed burger spot Burgerism, the cult-favourite Manchester-born brand famous for its smashed patties and seasoned fries.
Launched in 2018 as a delivery-only "dark kitchen" on an industrial estate in Salford, it has become one of the most popular options on delivery platforms and was even named one of Britain's top 10 burgers.
Looking to the United States for inspiration and food trends that were taking off there, founder Mark Murphy identified the opportunity for smashed burgers - ground beef smashed onto a grill or griddle to create a crispy edge which locks in all the juices and flavour.
Today, the business spans two dark kitchens - the flagship in Salford and one in Manchester - as well as takeaways in Gatley and Denton, plus a presence at Freight Island at Depot Mayfield. In February, eight years after its launch, the brand unveiled its first dine-in experience in the heart of the city in Piccadilly Gardens.
Highlights of the Burgerism menu include the fan-favourite 'Cheesed', made with two smashed patties, cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion and the brand’s signature sauce, and served in a seeded brioche bun, as well as their chicken burgers, wings, seasoned fries and sauces spanning BBQ, Blue Cheese, Spicy Buffalo, and Garlic Ranch.
The 2026 edition of the awards will also see Uber Eats give out a £100,000 prize for the winner to supercharge their business. To celebrate ten years since first launching in London, the platform is also doubling down on its support for small businesses by launching anniversary prizes, extending £25,000 and £10,000 cash prizes for 2nd and 3rd place respectively for the first time.
Public voting is open until 23:59 on 30 July 2026. The culinary battle will culminate in a star-studded awards ceremony in London later this year, where regional winners, industry leaders, and special guests will gather to see who takes home the ultimate crown.
