Casa Grădișteanu-Ghica (also known as Palatul Ghica Victoria) is a historic and architecturally significant building located at Strada Nicolae Iorga 1, near Calea Victoriei in Bucharest, Romania. Originally commissioned by Elena and Constantin Grădișteanu and built in 1884, the house was designed by French architect Jean Berthet in an eclectic style with Renaissance influences, featuring richly ornamented façades, monumental staircases, coffered and painted ceilings, wood paneling, and stained-glass windows.
Following the death of Constantin Grădișteanu without heirs, the palace was inherited by his sister Maria, who was married into the Ghica family—hence the combined name. Major interior renovations took place between 1895 and 1898, enhancing the decorative richness of the building.
In 1948, the Communist regime nationalized the property, displacing the Ghica family. After the 1989 Romanian Revolution, the heirs reclaimed the building, and it was restored in the mid-1990s under architect Adina Dinescu. Today, the building is known as Casa Dunării (“House of the Danube”) and serves as an event venue, featuring thematic salons dedicated to Emperor Trajan, Viennese, and Oriental inspirations.
