Hi there, In my opinion, there's a significant challenge across the AECO industry, particularly from the Fire Protection industry I'm currently working in, and I assume it's the same for the likes of MEP, Data Centre, Pharmaceutical and Healthcare projects, is the management of testing, commissioning, turnover and handover activities through disconnected systems such as spreadsheets, PDFs, shared drives, email chains and manual trackers. Large projects can involve hundreds of test packs, thousands of assets and certificates, and multiple stakeholders, resulting in poor visibility into test pack progress completion, unclear ownership of outstanding items, duplicated information being generated, delayed client witnessing, missing documentation, and significant administrative effort during the turnover phase. While Autodesk Forma Build currently provides powerful capabilities through the Assets tool for test pack generation and development, with the likes of Forms, Issues, and Document Management files being referenced into asset folders to develop test pack reports, I believe there is an opportunity to introduce a dedicated Test Pack & Commissioning Management Module that brings these workflows together into a single integrated environment. Test packs could be created manually or automatically from asset selections and model data, with assets, forms, certificates, issues, photos and commissioning records linked directly to each pack. Standardised templates could be developed for Fire Protection, Mechanical and Electrical systems, allowing organisations to deploy consistent testing and commissioning processes across projects. Intelligent workflows could manage the progression from installation completion through testing, witnessing, approval and final handover, while automatically generating issues from failed tests and tracking corrective actions to closure. Integration with the model viewer would provide visual status tracking of assets and systems, allowing users to quickly identify tested, approved, outstanding or failed components. Client witness points could be managed through automated notifications and approval workflows, eliminating manual coordination. I think project teams would also benefit from real-time dashboards showing test pack status, commissioning progress, turnover readiness and phased handover metrics, while management teams could monitor completion trends, risks and programme impacts across multiple projects. There could also be future AI capabilities such as integrating Autodesk Assistant into the workflow to enhance the process by identifying missing documentation, predicting turnover dates, highlighting at-risk systems and validating commissioning completeness. By introducing a dedicated Test Pack & Commissioning Management Module, Autodesk Forma Build could provide a truly end-to-end digital commissioning and turnover solution, eliminating reliance on external spreadsheets and disconnected workflows while delivering greater visibility, accountability, data quality and efficiency throughout the project lifecycle.
