The GPU is not recognized.

Framework 13 + 6950XT worked fine in Razer Core X (not flawlessly but that is another can of worms).

Symptoms

•  boltctl does not list the dock at all
• /dev/dri does not list the GPU
• lspci does not list the  GPU
• dmesg did not show any errors or warning

What I tried

• changing cable (included tb5, multiple other tb3)
• different GPU -> same behaviour
• different BIOS versions
• different kernel versions

Strangely the attached USB devices and Ethernet work and can be found in lsusb. Coldbooting with the eGPU powered on and connected results in black screen. Diagnostic LEDs of the dock report all working.

Dock worked with another host device

If anyone has ideas, I will happily to try them.

 boltctl does not list the dock at all

It happens on some hosts that bolt stops to see an unauthorized device after a few seconds. Try the following:

1. boot with the eGPU
2. run while true; do boltctl list; sleep 0.5; done in a terminal
3. connect the eGPU

This will hopefully catch the UUID of the dock. If so, disconnect, connect again and immediately issue boltctl enroll ${UUID} a few times until you manage to catch it. After that it should work fine.

Also be aware that AMD CPU + TB5 + Linux is generally an unstable mix:

• With Nvidia eGPUs it causes instant reboots unless GSP is disabled: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=221319
