Delta Sound Labs have just launched a new granular synthesis plug-in that allows composers, producers and sound designers to turn their own audio samples into playable instruments and evolving textures.
Aimed at those working in cinematic scoring, ambient music and electronic production, Stream Pro combines independent pitch and time controls with real-time sample scrubbing and per-voice effects, and also comes loaded with a selection of 3D spatialisation tools. It’s based on the same processing that powers the company’s Steam effects plug-in, but offers deeper granular control and of course, keyboard mapping.
Once users have loaded in their samples, the plug-in offers a choice of two operating modes. The first, Single Mode, is designed for creating pads, textures and atmospheres, offering independent time and pitch parameters along with detailed control over the behaviour of individual grains. Multi Mode then employs a polyphonic grain engine and makes samples playable across the keyboard.
Each grain or voice can be treated with its own dedicated effects chain, which offers a selection of digital and analogue-style distortions. The plug-in also boasts a HRTF-based 3D spatialisation engine that treats each note as a spatial object. Sounds can be freely placed around the stereo field, and a set of modulation tools make it possible to animate their movement with an assortment of plotted or randomised motion paths — the plug-in also supports binaural processing.
CompatibilityStream Pro is supported on PCs running Windows 10 or above, and Macs running macOS 10.13 and higher. VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available.
Pricing & AvailabilityStream Pro is available now, priced at $99.
