For 10 yrs or so the group's monthly meeting reminders (email) were managed by a public health nurse. This wonderful person just retired and change is now needed...She basically would do a "reply all" to an older email, edited the subject and body, fixed any new or leaving email addresses in the CC field and sent. Very manual and simple. This person has now retired and the group wants to keep meeting, but for various reasons, there will not be an active "leader" or "manager" beyond a person or persons who agree(s) to send email reminders. I have some tech and web dev background so I've agreed to help brainstorm a way that might work to manage or store the list of group member emails, so monthly mtg reminders can continue to be sent, and so we can maintain a current list of emails of group members. It's pretty obvious that no one really wants to (or can) take on a managerial or tech role, but people really want the meetings to continue. (People with this disease, and their care partners, are swamped.)
I'm looking for suggestions of free tools, or clever strategies for this "simple" situation. We need a way to store the member emails so they could be accessed and/or updated by multiple people over time, and a system for sending the monthly mtg reminders. It doesn't have to be a software solution or service - it could be a simple manual strategy. And it's got to be essentially free - there are no dues etc. If you have dealt with a similar situation, I'd love to hear about it. Facebook groups are not a solution- many members do not use fb and that would not guarantee receipt of the reminder messages anyway. I am kind of assuming all other free tools would be overkill or horrible, but maybe I'm being too pessimistic. Thanks!
