The legendary boxing champ and grill pitchman custom-built the Mediterranean residence in 2001 and lived there until his death in 2025.
In the early 2000s, as he was transitioning into a massive global entrepreneur, media personality, and full-time minister following his final retirement from boxing, George Foreman custom-built a roughly 12,000-square-foot mansion on over 28 acres in the unincorporated Texas town of Huffman, about 35 miles northeast of Houston.
Designed over two years by Foreman and his wife, Mary Joan Martelly, the sprawling single-level Mediterranean home boasted a soaring steel-and-glass central atrium and ballroom-style living space where they hosted gatherings, including a wedding reception for their daughter, Leola, along with two fully equipped kitchens, one with his cursive “G.F.” initials that was used to film grill commercials, and a private studio where he recorded sermons. Adjacent to the home, a massive, climate-controlled 11,000-square-foot garage accommodated his 40-plus car collection.

In addition to a formal dining room anchored by an ornate European-style crystal chandelier, other highlights of the five-bedroom, nine-bath home include a multi-purpose game room equipped with a wet bar, plus a gym with a wall of custom stained-glass windows featuring animal motifs and glass cases where boxing memorabilia and trophies were once displayed.
A standalone hair salon and an air-conditioned room for fur coats were created especially for Mary Joan, while a secluded primary wing has a sitting area and a study, alongside dual baths and closets. Outdoors lies an air-conditioned dog kennel and yard where the family’s 16 dogs once played.

Nearly 19 months after the two-time world heavyweight champion and Olympic gold medalist passed away at age 76, his family is selling a 13.5-acre portion of the compound in the Commons at Lake Houston community for $6 million. An extra 14.8 acres with tennis and basketball courts and a wooded pond where Foreman taught his grandchildren to fish are available for purchase separately. Evan Compean of the Compean Group represents the listing.
Natalie, another of the couple’s daughters, related to the Houston Chronicle that she hopes the next owner will carry on the family’s legacy by hosting large gatherings and celebrations. “In a perfect world,” she said, “somebody’s having the big Thanksgiving parties, the big New Year’s parties that we used to have and popping firecrackers in the front yard [for the] Fourth of July.”
