“Never more, never less.” That was the trademark philosophy of legendary interior designer Albert Hadley, who masterfully shaped high-society taste for decades. Before he died in 2012, he crafted iconic spaces for Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis—including the White House breakfast room—as well as Oscar and Annette de la Renta, Diane Sawyer, and the Rockefeller, Mellon, and Getty families.

One of Hadley’s lesser-known projects can be found in the southwest Florida city of Naples, about two hours from Miami, where he spent part of the late 1990s and early 2000s tailoring a charming coastal cottage and guesthouse to serve as his winter retreat. Filled with personal collages, historical bibelots, and furnishings culled from his other homes, the curated display was featured in major shelter magazines, from House Beautiful to House & Garden.

Reportedly built for the local postmistress, the 1930s-era property was most recently acquired in 2021 for $3 million by Tom and Jackie Kramer, who undertook an extensive renovation that included opening up the living and dining area, adding a wet bar, and updating the kitchen and baths. In the guesthouse, the couple replaced the kitchenette appliances and cabinetry, and installed new floors and tongue-and-groove ceilings and walls.

Now, the entire spread is ready for its next chapter, having just hit the market for a smidge under $6 million. Kathleen Thanas and Ashley Baird with the Dawn McKenna Group at Coldwell Banker Realty share the listing.

Set on less than a quarter of an acre dotted with palm trees and bougainvillea, three blocks from the beach and steps from the Third Street South shopping and dining district, the light blue wood-sided primary dwelling is accented with French windows and a modern metal roof. Inside, three bedrooms and two bathrooms are distributed across two levels showcasing a crisp white palette accented with vibrant pops of orange and coral.

An enclosed sunporch leads into an airy, light-filled living and dining area, which holds a custom wet bar equipped with a Sub-Zero wine refrigerator and double beverage drawers, plus a fireplace with a seashell-themed surround. French doors open to a small den, while the kitchen features marble countertops, a center island, stainless appliances, and access to a screened porch.

Opposite a patio-encased swimming pool surrounded by lush, tropical landscaping is the detached guesthouse, which has a living space with a built-in queen bed, a separate bunk room, and a full bath. A one-car garage and a gated carport off an alley complete the estate.
