Alongside its iconic classics, the brand has always incorporated modern, novel silhouettes into its catalog. The Buck 040 Onset is one such silhouette, offering a contemporary format ideal for everyday carry.
And right now, it’s deeply discounted at Blade HQ.
The 040 Onset is available in black and satin or OD green and black.BuckUnlike many of Buck’s classic folders, the 040 Onset is a showcase of more contemporary materials and mechanisms. For instance, the brand typically trades in manual deployments, but this one gets a speedy flipper, instead.
That deployment is attached to a drop-point blade measuring 3.375 inches, made from cryogenic heat-treated S45VN stainless steel, offering a sizable cutting belly and an excellent piercing point. Altogether, it’s a versatile blade as adept at detail work as it is at bigger, tougher cuts.

The whole package is finished off with a sturdy tip-up, right-hand-carry pocket clip and a smooth ball-bearing pivot. It also comes in two colorways: black and satin or OD green and black.
